I take this opportunity to introduce myself and to give some background.
My name is Marius Aggenbach, I am a South African and I have been active
in sailing since 1976.
I have a Yacht Master Offshore ticket awarded by S A Sailing. My Radio
Ham call sign is ZR1AGG.
In 1976 I bought my first yacht a Stornaway
55 called Halt and started rebuilding her, sold her, the new owner completed
the task renamed her Ingrid and enjoys sailing her.
Fleur du Cap a Compass 47 was bought as a hull and deck, completed
in my yard and launched in 1982.
She
was sold and is sailing now somewhere in the world.
Antares, an aluminum
58ft Angelo Lavranos design, was built by Cenmarine in
Cape Town, fitted out by a team under my supervision, and was launched in 1986.
She was sailed to America and sold to a South African living in Pretoria.
Plans are to start our circumnavigation on Mila in April 2006, leaving South Africa for Brazil via St Helena Island, then on to Guyana, Venezuela, The San Blas Islands, Mexico, Cuba and North America and the Med
